About the Author

Dorothy Fletcher Bentley,
Children’s Book Author.

Committee member of  Grasshoppers International Early Years Festival (http://grasshoppersfestival.com/)

Member of Children’s Books Ireland (https://childrensbooksireland.ie/)

Dorothy began her book-writing career by dreaming up stories, in between freelance design jobs, at her home studio in Co. Carlow.

As the author of more than 8 children’s books in the Lil Horreurs series, she has had a lot of fun bringing her creative side to life through her stories. Each story features a unique character with a challenge, who overcomes that challenge with the help of great lil friends, good fun, and perhaps some tea and scones. Her books are full of humour and colourful illustrations that children love. And the subtle message of friendship and kindness makes them stories that adults and children will enjoy together.

Dorothy has a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication and Diploma in interactive media. She has had a long career as an E-Communications Specialist at the University of California, Los Angeles, and as a freelance Web and Graphic Designer, in Ireland. When not working on her books, she loves making jewellery, sewing, and dreaming up more stories.

Dorothy’s books have been performed for the Town Hall Theatre, Galway and the Backstage Theatre, Longford, by professional children’s storyteller, Cliodhna Noonan, of ActingUp Arts.
